Acrylics look, feel, and move much differently than the watercolors I was used to. Thats the great thing about being artistic, trying new mediums, and figuring out how they’ll work. Those with art degrees will tell you for best results you have to do A, B, and C. Which is great but once you add rules, the creativity gets constrained. The fun and appeal to “art” is not playing by the rules, its about creating for the ability to create. Don’t misunderstand, I’m not trying to start an argument, or dismiss years of art study, I just mean sometimes trial and error is how people learn the best.
I can tell you some of the issues I had at first was not using nearly enough paint. I wanted to maintain my control and was teaching myself it was ok to make mistakes, and mistakes in art can add more value then they take away. These are some of my acrylic paintings, just learning and having a little fun with them.
